Tsunami Wall
Sandhill is act as Tsunami wall that's the time to protect the sand hill.

Save the sand for the future
Days are moving fast. Years are arriving very fast. Thus world is moving much fast. Everyone ought to say “Fast moving world”. We must keep the following quote in our mind for the life time.
“Prevention better than cure”

In old days Pottuvil, not more or any home is the luxury ones. The days gone… Trends begin to rule. Everything has become more powerful with the own identity. Nowadays people rushed to build houses for their own with more facilities, such as, beautiful as well as huge in size and appearance. Building such a house is very expensive. It is need big budget to fulfill the task.
Sand, stone and cement are the essential materials needs to build a house in domestically. Sand, dig from Sand hill and this is increasing day by day with increasing number of constructions. But, this digging of sand process should be stopped in order to get protect from Tsunami like disaster as well as Floods.
These days, people who live in surrounding of Sand hill have got awareness of this issue and made several steps to stop the digging of sand at Sand hill. These are the rightful signs towards to the future. Make the sand available for the future. Save the sand for the future and our own generation.

Historical myths of the Sand hill (Manmalai)
The exact history of Sand hill is murky, but, it is believed that eh sand hill is formed by an unusual natural hazard which can be a huge Tsunami like disaster. There some records of past tsunamis in this region.


This cause of formation is should be believed because of some following reasons;
An archeological site was discovered & explored by removing huge volume of sand by the personnel from the department of archeological. It is to confirm that people were live in this area for old days. Their civilization has been fully demolished by some natural Tsunami like disaster.



The vast mass of sand has been assembled together in forming a highest peak is about 32 feet in meters it’s got the value of 9.6 m.
But, today the sand hill is act as the protecting wall for Tsunami and protect so many people from the last Tsunami which was hit the Sri Lankan coastal area on 26th of December 2004.

Arugambay Bridge
On the day of December tsunami, Ulla- a village situated in Pottuvil vastly ravaged by Tsunami. Every structure is flattening by Tsunami including the Arugambay Bridge. A team from India come to the devastated site and starts to build a temporary bridge, in order to sort out the difficulties of people who might suffer to cross the “Kalappu” by boat.
Meantime, there is some news from local, that the proceeding of building a new permanent bridge is start will soon. Now you can see what the temporary bridge looks like; It’s so beautiful on my view.. How about you….?

A real beauty of nature
Imagine a hill made by only sand and it's heighest peak is reach about 32 feet and also spread through 21 acres of land area.
Yes!! You have enough fortune to witness such huge natural creation.
It's situated at Pottuvil, It's called as Sandhill some says Manmalai.
Whatever, However this blog will deliver the best and ever beautiful views from sandhill and also will deliver the historical myths behind this hill.
